England boss Gareth Southgate has outlined his reason for not picking Jadon Sancho in his most recent squad.
The Three Lions squad for the upcoming international break has been revealed, with several high profile absences.
Two of them are from Manchester United in the form of Sancho and teammate Marcus Rashford.
On Sancho specifically, Southgate mentioned that competition for places is too fierce for everyone to get into the squad.
"There are other attacking players in our squad who are ahead of him in our opinion," said Southgate when asked about Sancho by reporters.
"Jadon in the last few weeks his performances have improved but it is an area of the pitch where we have competition for places."
