American billionaire Todd Boehly has been seeking to buy into football for the past year.

Boehly is part of a billionaire duo who are said to be preparing a bid for Chelsea following Roman Abramovich's decision to sell up - having withdrawn in negotiations to buy a club in January.

The American investor, businessman and philanthropist, who is CEO of Eldridge Industries, is said to be part of a group that want to take the Stamford Bridge side from Abramovich.

That interest wouldn't be his first negotiations over taking a stake in a football club following talks over a potential purchase of Washington Spirit back in January.

The Athletic reported that Boehly was looking to buy Spirit, the 2021 NWSL champions, having already owned stakes in the Los Angeles based Dodgers, Sparks and Lakers.

The Telegraph report that Boehly, and billionaire acquaintance Hansjorg Wyss are currently preparing a bid for Abramovich to consider.
