
NABAWAN: Women in the rural areas should empower themselves to improve their socio-economic status as well as that of their families, said Pertubuhan Muafakat Titipan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (Mutiara GRS).
Mutiara GRS Member, Datin Doren Asiah Azlan said the GRS State Government is always concerned about the welfare of women and has initiated various programmes and activities to assist them achieve success.
“Under the Sabah Maju Jaya initiatives of the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the wellbeing of women is also included and this shows the GRS State Government’s concern for women,” said Doren, who is the wife of Nabawan Assemblyman, Datuk Abdul Ghani Yassin.
Doren donated electric rice cookers and cooking stoves at a ceremony held at the Dewan Melampoi in Kg Melampoi, here.
She hoped that the items would help those afflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic in some way.
She said the Mutiara GRS’ Special Allocations were focused on welfare programmes in accordance with suggestions made by Mutiara GRS Chief, Datin Seri Juliah Salag, wife of the Chief Minister.
Abdul Ghani, who is also SLDB Chairman, was also present.
