Kota Kinabalu: The frequent water disruptions in Sandakan are expected to be resolved when the district’s water treatment pump station upgrade is completed, said Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

Bung, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, said the project is being implemented under the State Water Supply Development Programme in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“The Sandakan water treatment pump station has four pumps in total,” he said in response to a question by Tanjong Papat assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Wednesday.

“The works to upgrade the water treatment pump station involve the installation of two new treated water pumps and the repair of one existing pump.”

So far, he said, a treated water pump had been repaired and commenced operations on Jul 20, last year, while a new treated water pump to replace a damaged one was installed and started operating on Nov 9, also last year.
