Tottenham defender Matt Doherty is happy silencing his critics.

Largely derided as a poor signing after struggling under both Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte's arrival has changed things for the Republic of Ireland international.

While Spurs chased the signing of Adama Traore over the course of the January transfer window, presumably to deploy as a wing-back, Conte's work with Doherty since has been impressive.

Such has been the level of good-feeling towards him, the club ran a Q&A with the Irishman on Thursday, during which he was asked what he made of the nickname “Dohberto Carlos".

Reflecting on his growth in the team, Doherty wrote: “It's better than what I was being called four months ago".
