Sri Aman MP quits opposition party PSB, declares support for PM

MIRI – Sri Aman MP Datuk Masir Kujat has resigned from the federal opposition’s Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) with immediate effect.

In a statement today, the now independent lawmaker has declared his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, although he did not disclose if he will be joining the government or any other political outfits.

“I am resigning from PSB after consulting my grassroot supporters. My resignation takes immediate effect. I declare full support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“I support his leadership as he is doing all he can to help Malaysians through the difficult period we are facing now,” he said.

Originally, Kujat was a Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) member, where it was a component of the state ruling coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

In 2019, he left PRS and joined PSB.

Last December saw him contesting as a PSB candidate for the Balai Ringin constituency in the 12th state election.

He lost to GPS candidate Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

Meanwhile, PSB has yet to issue any official response to Kujat’s decision to quit the party. – The Vibes, March 30, 2022
