Every year, without fail, we can see the prices of goods increasing and their quality remaining the same. Sometimes, to our chagrin, the quality of these goods and services did not just remain the same. It decreases in quality!
It’s common to hear people say “goods keep increasing in price but our salaries remain the same”. We can also hear often people saying how they have to take on multiple jobs to sustain their living costs.
All concerns raised are valid points
Let’s at least agree with this at the very least. The increasing price on a yearly basis has been a burden, especially on the lower-income group. I am not saying people should give them free handouts. However, we should not leave anyone else behind.
If it is in your power to offer them an extra set of income with new work, then that offer is better than nothing. That extra set of income could be a lot useful for these financially struggling people.
Some people may say that the price increase is nowhere near as bad as some countries are increasing their prices. It’s a valid point that I can agree on. However, people also need to understand some of these countries have budget options for their financially struggling people. Does Malaysia have something similar to this? Not a lot, to be honest.
Find an extra job for the extra income
This is probably a lot easier said than done. Jobs have been scarce in the last few years. It does not help how after everyone has been hit by Covid that even the job market is affected too.
Not only are you fighting for the 2nd set of income and jobs with fellow employed people, but you are also fighting with fresh graduates too. Throw in unemployed people for more than 1 year into the fray and you can see how steep the competition is in the job market. It’s normal to see 1 position being applied by thousands of applicants even those who don’t even have relevant experience.
It’s a tough situation, sad but true. There is nothing you can do either since that is the situation in this country so far.
Giving up is not an option

It does come across as tough in the beginning. However, it does not need to be always so difficult. As it’s only the initial stage where it’s difficult, it does get easier eventually.
When I first started working the 2nd gig, it was very tiring. I lack proper sleep and rest. However, not giving up and persisting is key to success. I have always strongly believed that as long as you keep trying and keep looking, it’s better than giving up.
In the end, it’s totally worth it because you have the extra income to help you with your daily spending and expenses. You will get used to it eventually and you may get more contacts to give you more work.
Bottom Line
Prices will always give up. However, you can always get an extra job and demand better rates. That way you don’t have to starve into oblivion when you don’t earn nearly enough.
