Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s caseload rose to 79 on Tuesday from 58 the day earlier, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Of the figure, 55.7 per cent were sporadic infections while 18.99 per cent were close contacts.

“As stated before, the daily caseload is expected to hover around the 60 to 150 mark. The rise and fall of cases in nearly all districts are marginal. On Tuesday, 16 districts recorded an increase in cases while four recorded a decrease,” he said.

Masidi said Kota Kinabalu is the only district that recorded a double-digit figure with 26 cases, followed by Sandakan (6), Penampang (5) and Beaufort (5).

“A total of 22 out of 27 districts recorded single-digit figures, of which 16 recorded one or two cases respectively. Four districts did not record any new cases,” said Masidi.

No deaths or new clusters were identified on Tuesday. Masidi said the majority of cases were mild, with 72 out of 79 being category one and two infections.

“Two cases were in category three, three in category four and two in category five,” he added. On Sabah’s immunisation programme, 4,115 took their vaccines on Apr 18 of which 975 were adults, 221 were teenagers and 2,919 were children.
