Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has fixed the price of RTK-Antigen test at RM60 per person upon arrival.

The rate applies to both foreign and local travellers and comes as a huge relief for state tourism players and tourists amid concerns the cost of Covid-19 tests are too high and would discourage tourists from visiting the country.

“This is a timely and suitable strategy to revitalise Sabah tourism which had been hit hard by the pandemic for the past two years.

It is our hope to see the industry rise again from this crisis and grow stronger, also we wish to see more tourists visiting Sabah, hopefully to numbers like it was before the pandemic,” CM Hajiji told reporters after officiating the Travel Safe Alliance (TSAM).

At the national level, the RTK Antigen test is set at RM100 for Malaysians and RM160 for foreigners.

Responding to a question on the projected number of arrivals this year, Hajiji observed in the year prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Sabah received over 4 million tourist arrivals.

“We are looking forward to the reopening of our borders on April 1, hopefully there will be more tourists this year,” he said.
