PETALING JAYA: The RTK-Antigen (RTK-Ag) tests upon arrival for international travellers is no longer a requirement, says Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
It said as per the latest SOPs announced by the government, such travellers only need to do the RTK-Ag test within 24 hours after arriving in Malaysia at any private healthcare facility and submit their result via the MySejahtera mobile app.
“There is no requirement for travellers to do the RTK-Ag onsite at the airports as claimed in some media reports,” MAHB said in a statement.
It was responding to media reports claiming that travellers had to pay a high price for the RTK-Ag test upon arrival.
Several types of Covid-19 tests are available on-arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2, with some facilities providing the RTK-Ag nasal test charging RM100 for Malaysians and RM160 for foreigners.
The test normally costs between RM60 to RM70 if conducted at private healthcare facilities, including clinics.
MAHB also denied claims of a monopoly by private healthcare facility operators at airports.
It said the facilities are made available for the convenience of travellers who wish to be tested immediately upon arrival, adding that the new pre-departure and arrival SOPs had significantly improved the speed and efficiency of passenger processing at all international airports in the country.
On April 1, new SOPs took effect with the country’s borders reopening as part of the country’s transition to the endemic phase.
The new protocols also involve the use of MySejahtera, pre-departure Covid-19 testing, and filling in pre-release forms.
