Everton boss Frank Lampard has hit out at Stan Collymore for calling on Dele Alli to retire.
Lampard says the former Liverpool striker should know better given his history.
He said, "I saw those comments and I think it is important to address it, as I know Stan a little and he had difficulties during his career, which he has been open with. I understand what he went through, but talking about someone you do not know and putting it in the same compartment or asking if it is in that compartment is a bit too much.
"I work with Dele every day and I do not see a player who wants to retire. What I see is that he has a lot to prove.
"Then you have to drill your head down, listen and prove to people on the pitch that they are wrong."
