No eviction for Kg Baru flat residents before Raya

KUALA LUMPUR – The Kg Baru Development Corporation (PKB), as the rightful holder of low-cost flats involved in land acquisition for a redevelopment project in Kg Sg Baru here, will allow residents to remain until July 31.

The director-general of lands and mines in a statement yesterday said that PKB will produce a letter of permission to the former owners affected once Form K – a land takeover notice – has been issued.

The department’s statement came after news circulated on a local portal regarding the residents’ disappointment about receiving an eviction notice in Ramadan.

The statement also noted that the land acquisition for the redevelopment project will involve 72 flats, 37 terrace houses, and a TNB substation lot.

“Compensation for the flats was paid in stages starting February. It is paid within the range of RM198,000 to RM350,000 according to the First Schedule of the Land Acquisition Act 1960 (APT 1960).

“Any flat owners dissatisfied with the Land Office’s award can submit their objection via Form N APT 1960 (to be referred to the courts) within 42 days from the date of the award,” the statement read.

The department said it has issued Form K alongside an accompanying letter after compensation was made to the relevant parties.

It added that the letter was issued administratively to clarify the purpose of Form K, and the letter’s issuance is part of the standard operating procedure in land acquisition processes to notify that the flats are under the purview of the relevant statutory body, namely PKB. – The Vibes, April 12, 2022
