There has never, ever been a need for vandalism, even when out and about having fun with friends. Plus, what does anyone get out of vandalism anyways?

That may be a question for some teenagers who were caught on CCTV footage vandalising public signages as they skateboarded around the Medan Pasar area of the River of Life (RoL).

Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur has since shared screenshots of the CCTV footage, while informing that they will work with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to track down the teenagers.

They wrote, “We’ve spotted you. There are a handful of teenagers who have vandalised public signs for their skateboarding activities in the Medan Pasar area of the RoL.”

“This misconduct was detected through the CCTVs at the location. DBKL, which immediately followed up at the location, found that the teenagers had fled.”

The teenagers had allegedly knocked over the signage, to use it as a prop to jump onto or over with their skateboards.

DBKL went on the share that they are currently looking for the boys as justice must be served.

“DBKL, in collaboration with PDRM, are tracking down these perpetrators. Those who commit misconduct against public property can be fined up to a maximum of RM2,000,”

You can have fun but don’t be destructive,” they added.

It’s truly saddening that the younger generations feel the need to destroy public property just for a bit of fun.

We genuinely hope that the authorities station more enforcement officers on the scene to prevent such incidents from happening again.
