Burnley caretaker boss Mike Jackson says they must approach their clash with Southampton as an "opportunity".

The Clarets are currently sitting inside the bottom three.

Jackson said, "We are a little bit light in midfield. We will have to tweak a couple of things. These are Premier League players, they are not here to keep me company.

"Every manager would like to have a bigger squad. We have to tap into what we are.

"These games are opportunities, we have to take it on. Can we get more consistency in the way we play.

"Ben Mee still won't be ready for the weekend, he's coming along nicely. Fingers crossed we're hoping he'll be ready to play before the end of the season."

He added: "Two home games are good and I think if we can keep that mentality, add what that stadium can do with the backing and atmosphere under the lights; it can become really powerful.

"I've played here under the lights as a player and I know what it's like and I know the impact that crowd can have. They've got a group that's fighting for them."
