Former West Ham striker Sir Geoff Hurst praised their triumph over Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.
The Premier League side, drawing 1-1 from the first leg at the London Stadium last week, deservedly triumphed 3-0 in Lyon to all but silence the raucous home crowd.
They will now face the same opponents they faced in 1976, when they last reached the final four of a European competition, after Eintracht Frankfurt stunned Barcelona at the Nou Camp to progress.
West Ham legend Hurst, who played for the Hammers from 1959-1972, was full of praise as he took to Twitter to urge David Moyes's side to go all the way.
"Fantastic performance and result last night," he wrote. "What a feeling for the manager and all the players. Come on West Ham."
