According to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice President, Rafizi Ramli, only 4% of Malaysians want former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to come back as the country’s leader despite his rise to prominence in recent times.

Sourcing reports made last February, the Pekan Assemblyman came last in a run of five other political figures which include another former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Rafizi added that the names in the list include Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Bersatu), Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (UMNO), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR) and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Even though he sees himself as a popular figure only 4% of the voters want him back.”

“Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri received the highest amount of votes with 21% wanting him as their Prime Minister elect.”

The research in question involves 2,500 respondents and is done on a monthly basis.

Additionally, 60% of the respondents have chosen to not show their support for any of the leaders mentioned, signalling that they want new blood to steer the country.

Rafizi mention that the generational shift in national politics takes time.
