River Plate vice-president Matias Patanian has confirmed that Julian Alvarez will join Manchester City in June.

City signed the striker in January, with the Argentine international staying on loan at River until the end of the season in order to play in the Copa Libertadores.

There were suggestions that River might extend that deal until the end of the year, but Patanian has seemingly dismissed those claims.

He told River El Mas Grande : "Everything seems to indicate that he is leaving in June, we must be prepared for that."

Alvarez has scored five goals and registered two assists for River in 13 games this season, which began in February.
