Bayer Leverkusen saw off competition from Arsenal for Zidan Sertdemir, it has been revealed.

The 16 year-old Dane made his first team debut for Bayer as a 16 year-old earlier this season, having joined from FC Nordsjaelland in a €2m deal last summer.

BILD says Bayer snapped up Sertdemir ahead of rivals Ajax and Arsenal.

Sertdemir's family - who are of Turkish descent - were impressed by the way a large number of young talents have developed in the Bundesliga over the past year, most notably Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund, and this saw them choose a move to Germany.
