Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri couldn't fault his players in defeat to AC Milan.
Ciro Immobile had given the Biancocelesti the perfect start, but Olivier Giroud and in injury-time Sandro Tonali struck for Milan's 2-1 win.
“We gave it our all with an excellent first half and in the second paid for the difficult week, as many of our players had a fever and so they didn't have 90 minutes in their legs," Sarri told DAZN.
“We then made a mistake in a crucial moment of the game when we weren't really under pressure, so it's disappointing.
“We gave the ball away far too many times, didn't manage to create counter-attacks and really struggled after their equaliser, but by the end we hadn't allowed any chances for several minutes.
“The main problem was we'd lose the ball the moment we won it back, so inevitably sat deeper and deeper."
