Burnley manager Sean Dyche has thrown his support behind Dwight McNeil.

The Clarets are battling to survive in the Premier League, and gave their chances a big boost by beating Everton on Wednesday.

McNeil has not been in the best of form, but Dyche believes the 22-year-old can rediscover his best qualities.

"He's a terrific player, he's having a tough season, his first real tough spell, tough spell, actually not season, I think a lot of his season has been good and even recently," Dyche said before the Everton game, per Lancs Live.

"That's the challenge of being a younger player who has played a lot of football coming through. It's part of his development, most have been through it.

"Legends of the game, there was a time when they were hanging effigies of David Beckham outside of pubs and he was a young player at they time. That was part of his career coming through it and he was even more legendary after that.

"The challenge of what it is is right in front of him. But he's a very, very good young player. He's still young and he's played a lot of football in the Premier League."
