[UPDATED] Thailand to drop PCR tests for arrivals from May 1: reports

KUALA LUMPUR – Fully vaccinated travellers heading to Thailand will no longer need to conduct RT-PCR tests upon arrival effective May 1, according to reports today by Thai media.

Visitors to the kingdom will instead be encouraged to conduct RTK self-tests and monitor their health over the period of their stay, according to Bangkok-based portal Khao Sod English.

Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, led by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, also scrapped an earlier requirement that travellers must book a hotel for the first night of their stay while awaiting their Covid-19 test results, and halved travel insurance requirements to US$10,000 (RM43,135).

However, unvaccinated travellers will be required to undergo a five-day quarantine and conduct an RT-PCR test upon arrival, and a second test on the fourth day of their stay. – The Vibes, April 22, 2022
