KUNAK: The Kunak District Council has prepared 140 lots for Ramadan Bazaar this year for those who want to run a breaking-of-fast business during the fasting month.

Kunak District Council (MDKNK) Executive Officer Mohd Nazri Pintal said two bazaars will operate, one with 100 lots behind Dewan Masyarakat, while 40 more will be operated at Sedco square near Servay Hypermarket in the Kunak township.

The two bazaars are under the supervision of the Kunak District Council.

Meanwhile, Nazri said the council would consider adding more lots if there is a demand for it, subject to the suitability of the location.

“Those who want to do business in the Ramadan Bazaar can get the application form at the District Council Office starting Thursday and the form must be submitted no later than April 1 at 3pm,” he said.

In the same development, he said, the District Council also received applications from individuals in the village area and outside the town of Kunak to run a Ramadan Bazaar within their vicinity.

“They can conduct sales operations, the important thing is it is done in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and regulations from the relevant agencies,” he said.

He hoped that with the transition to the endemic phase starting April 1, the Ramadan Bazaar operation will help small traders increase their income.
