Ever since Bridgerton graced our screens, everyone’s TV viewing experience, especially mine, has spiced up a notch. The drama is based on a series of 8 romance novels written by Julia Quinn. If you have not watched the show before, for your info, it is set in Regency-era London and revolves around the esteemed Bridgerton family, consisting of eight siblings – Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth – all children of the late Viscount Bridgerton.

I’m sure all of us can agree that Season 1 was spectacular as it became a massive hit on Netflix. And now the popularity of Season 2 is showing no signs of subsiding. If you can’t get enough of Season 1’s delectable drama and steamy romance, you’re definitely in for a bigger treat in Season 2.

Without further ado, here’s why you should tune in to Bridgerton Season 2.

Reason 1: More Drama and Scandal for Your Viewing Pleasure

What’s a drama, without well, drama? The drama, scandals and romance in Season 1 have never failed to intrigue me. Season 2 promises much more with its exceptional plot and storyline. This time the eldest Bridgerton heir, Anthony, who is also Viscount and head of the family since his father’s death, searches for a worthy bride.

In Season 2, the two Sharma sisters from India are brought into the picture, Kate Sharma and her younger sister Edwina. Like Anthony, Edwina is also searching for a suitable partner to marry and piques the interest of Anthony after she is named the diamond of the season’s debutantes. So Anthony pursues Edwina but things get heated when he finds himself falling for Kate, the elder sister. Now one can only imagine the scandal and drama that would ensue.

Reason 2: Finally Dark-Skinned South Asian Women in Leading Roles!

Another reason why Bridgerton Season 2 is a worthy watch is that it features dark-skinned South Asian women in leading roles. Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma, and Charitra Chandran, who plays Edwina Sharma, are both British actresses of South Asian descent. Casting South Asian women like them as the main characters in a major TV programme has been very rare in the mainstream film industry.

Even Bollywood is yet to cast a dark-skinned Indian actress in the lead romantic role for fear that she would not be accepted or viewed as desirable. So kudos to the producers of Bridgerton for their courage and racial inclusivity. It’s so awesome to finally see dark-skinned Asian women portrayed as beautiful, desirable and sexy.

If I were to continue listing down more reasons why you should give Bridgerton Season 2 a watch, I’m afraid there will be spoilers, which will defeat the purpose of this entire post. So I shall pen off here. I hope I was able to convince all you drama-lovers out there to watch such a sensational TV show.
