Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many have not had the opportunity to showcase their flight boarding passes on social media.
And it looks like they may never get to again, for the era of boarding passes may be coming to an end.
Malaysia Airports took to their Facebook page to showcase the newly installed biometric facial recognition technology at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) that’s going to render boarding passes unnecessary.
They wrote, “Your boarding pass may soon be a thing of the past with the implementation of biometric facial recognition technology at KLIA! We have recently rolled out the first phase for selected flights with happy passengers checking out their new travel experience.”
This new, state-of-the-art facial recognition scanners are currently located at check-in, the security area and the boarding gate for selected flights.
“So, from now onwards, just scan your face at the touchpoints and go! Your journey has become more seamless and hassle-free,” they added.
