Man killed, wife injured in Tuaran crash

Tuaran: A 30-year-old man was killed while his wife sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in skidded at Kg Minangkob, Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, here, on Thursday.

The man who was driving a Proton Iswara was confirmed dead at the scene following the 3pm incident.

Tuaran District Police Chief DSP Mohd Hamizi Halim said initial investigation found the victim was heading towards Tamparuli from Ranau.

“Upon arriving at the location, the victim is believed to have lost control of his vehicle and hit a big rock before crashing onto the left shoulder of the road. He succumbed to severe head and limb injuries,” he said.

The victim’s body was taken to Tuaran Hospital for post mortem.

“The victim’s wife was also sent to Tuaran Hospital for treatment,” said Mohd Hamizi, adding the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
