Kota Kinabalu: Twenty-eight elective surgeries were postponed after the closure of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's operation theatre here today and tomorrow following power failure that started yesterday.

Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin, in a statement today, said the closure was to ensure sufficient and stable power to wards and intensive care units.

Emergency surgeries, meanwhile, will be done at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital II (QEH II) during the closure.

Some inpatients were also moved to QEH II.

The concessionaire, Sedafiat Sdn Bhd, is in the midst of repairing power cables to restore supply, she said.
