Former Denmark coach Age Hareide has recalled axing Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for the 2018 World Cup.

The Norwegian has revisited omitting Hojbjerg and Daniel Wass, of Atletico Madrid.

He said, "There were small controversies with them both. I do not think Wass played a training match against the Czech Republic, and Højbjerg demonstrated a little too much when he was replaced in a match, and that was really enough for me.

"Højbjerg was young, but he changed a lot when he became a family man.

"I also visited him and knew what qualities he had. He did well in the club and that was the most important thing."
