Tottenham boss Antonio Conte says qualifying for the top four would transform their summer plans.

Returning to the Champions League after a two-year absence could have significant implications for the futures of Conte and Harry Kane.

Conte refused to be drawn on whether Spurs needed a top-four finish to keep Kane but acknowledged that the club would be in a stronger position with Champions League football.

“Every single player understands that we are in the right way to become a strong team and are ready to fight for an important target. This is very important," Conte said. "Now we have nine games and have to be focused. The players have to be focused to give their maximum.

“To finish in the Champions League would be a great achievement for everybody and allow us to take different decisions and good decisions for me. For sure it will be very important."
