TAWAU: The State Government has allocated RM170,000 to the NSCMH Dialysis Care Tawau branch at Taman Megah Jaya here to enhance their operational and service efficiency for patients.
The allocation was presented by Lo Su Fui, Special Officer (Sabah Tiong Hua Affairs) to the Chief Minister to the secretary of Tawau Agriculture Association (TAA) Liu Sin. Lo also was the TAA’s honorary advisor.
Also present were the advisor of TAA Gan Hock Song, treasurer Datuk Michael Ng as well as some committee members.
Gan said the NSCMH Dialysis Care Tawau branch began operations in 2016 and it previously did not receive financial aid from the government.
“Lo was willing to help in the application. We are very grateful to him and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Noor,” he said.
The NSCMH Dialysis Care Tawau branch was one of the important projects of the association and he hoped it could run actively to help more patients.
Liu said the centre has 34 patients and each needs dialysis three times weekly or about 13 times monthly. It costs about RM140 each time.
However, the patient still needs to refill more needles and do blood test which add up to RM170 compared to non-subsidised body who need to pay about RM300.
Michael also noted that dialysis patients are in their mid-twenties and advised the public to take care of their daily diet and healthy living habits apart from exercise.
