Manchester City U18s defeated Liverpool 3-1 ahead of the senior teams meeting in today's FA Cup semifinal.

It was first versus second at City's Academy Stadium and the hosts opened the scoring inside five minutes, Will Dickson finishing calmly inside the box after a low cross deflected into his path.

City continued their early dominance to open up the Reds on a number of occasions, forcing Luke Hewitson into several strong saves.

But ahead of the half-time interval as Bobby Clark evened up the scoreline, latching on to a James Balagizi through ball to drive on and find the back of the net.

City retook the lead with a little over 20 minutes to go.

A low shot was scrambled away, though Kian Breckin was on hand to fire home the loose ball to restore the league leaders' advantage.

City then added a third in the closing stages as Adedire Mebude's low cross found substitute Daniel Ogwuru inside the six-yard box to seal the points.
