KUALA LUMPUR – Although the country’s daily Covid-19 caseload has dipped to 17,476, Malaysia has logged another six clusters, mainly on the west coast of the peninsula.
Of the three clusters in Negri Sembilan, the Industri Taman Gunung Mas 2 workplace cluster in Tampin recorded the most cases with 53 infections and a positivity rate of 38.7%.
Also in Tampin is the Industri Repah workplace cluster with 12 cases and a positivity rate of 16.2% while the Jalan Batu Hampar high-risk group in Rembau has four cases and a rate of 19%.
Perak’s Jalan Zarib Lima workplace cluster in Kinta has 35 infections and a positivity rate of 48.6%, while Selangor’s Jalan Batu Unjur high-risk group cluster in Klang recorded 22 cases and a rate of 41.5%.
Lastly, Putrajaya’s Putra Empat Belas education cluster has six cases but a positivity rate of 50%.
Malaysia’s fresh cases bring the cumulative total to 4,219,395. As for deaths, 30 have been reported as of midnight, of which five are classified as brought in dead.
The latest death toll stands at 35,013, according to CovidNow data.
Meanwhile, the majority of the new cases come from the Klang Valley with Selangor logging 10,623 infections and Kuala Lumpur 1,191.
This is followed by Perak (788), Penang (730), Sarawak (648), Johor (623), Negri Sembilan (588), Kedah (529), Pahang (496), Melaka (439), Sabah (270), Terengganu (229), and Kelantan (178).
Labuan and Putrajaya each logged 56 infections, and 32 were detected in Perlis.
Active cases stand at 206,979, of which 201,924 are under home quarantine, 4,177 hospitalised, and 615 in low-risk treatment and quarantine centres.
Currently, 101 patients are under intensive care and 162 require ventilator aid. – The Vibes, April 2, 2022
