Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick explained dropping captain Harry Maguire for defeat at Arsenal.

Maguire has been dropped from the side to face Arsenal after Ralf Rangnick decided he needed a break after a difficult week. Maguire was the subject of a bomb threat at his home after United's defeat to Liverpool in midweek and with Raphael Varane back fit the skipper has been left on the bench at the Emirates.

Rangnick reverted to a back four, having begun the midweek defeat at Liverpool with a three-man defence, and it was Victor Lindelof who partnered Varane.

“I had to make a decision between the three of them, Harry has had a tough week so I decided to give him a rest and play Rapha Varane and Victor Lindelof," Rangnick told MUTV.
