Kota Kinabalu: The implementation of the new RM1,500 minimum wage effective May 1 will not be deferred despite pleas by industry players, said Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

Saravanan said even if the Government were to consider postponing, it could not be applied to all businesses and sectors as certain industries are doing well despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

“If not now, then when? I cannot postpone (the new minimum wage) across the board, the request must be reasonable.
