Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Naby Keita is having his best season for the club.
The Guinea midfielder has failed to live up to expectations since joining from RB Leipzig for £59m in 2018.
Injuries have played a large role in Keita's inconsistent output, but the 2021/22 season has seen the 27-year-old rack up his second most appearances in a single campaign with plenty of games to spare.
Klopp was asked if Keita is reaching his best at Anfield following his cameo against Villarreal in the Champions League semi-final first leg, which Liverpool won 2-0.
He replied: "Yes, it is his best season because he is, for the longest period, fit - and that's good for us, that's good for him.
"He is an outstanding player and that was always clear. Even in other seasons when he was not that consistently fit, he played incredible games.
"If you go back and watch our big games, you will realise how often Naby was on the pitch in these games. A very good, very good, moment for him."
