Kota Kinabalu: Police are tracking down two boys who had allegedly placed a sharp object on the road surface as seen in a recent viral video.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, in a statement, said efforts were being made to track down the boys. Those with information are advised to contact 088-529222.

“Police have launched a hunt for the boys seen in the viral video, but we have not managed to find them yet,” he said.

The video clip lasting 18 seconds showed the two kids placing a sharp object on the road along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens in the city.

The incident caused outrage among the public and called on the relevant authorities to take immediate action.

However, police have not received any report from road users whose vehicles were damaged by the alleged incident.

“So far, no party has lodged a police report regarding their vehicle being damaged due to the sharp object at the location,” he said. Zaidi added that policemen had also conducted operations and inspections on roads in the city.

“Legal action will be taken against anyone who breaks the law, including those disrupting traffic,” he said.
