SHAH ALAM, April 19 — Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin has invited 517 recipients of the Skim Mesra Usia Emas’ (SMUE) Jom Shopping vouchers to head to the Best Fresh Mart supermarket in Pasir Penambang tomorrow and Wednesday.
She said participants who were born in April and May can redeem vouchers worth RM100 starting at 10am until 12pm.
“Recipients are advised to continue shopping at the supermarket to ensure their voucher does not go missing.
“May this initiative by the state government help to alleviate the burden of the recipients in addition to bringing some cheer to their birthday,” Rozana said when contacted by SelangorKini.
SMUE was first introduced over a decade ago as a gesture of appreciation for senior citizens in Selangor, with each recipient qualifying for shopping vouchers and death benefits.
Last year the 2022 Selangor Budget allocated RM27.5 million for the continuation of the programme.
