KENINGAU: Flash floods caused damage to several roads and erosion of river banks in Kg Baru, Kg Lipasu and Kg Minansut in Bingkor, near here, on Wednesday night.

State Works Assistant Minister Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin, together with District Engineer Zulkefli Salib Arjud and Johari Pongtod from the Keningau Parliamentary Office, visited the affected areas.

Robert, who is also Bingkor Assemblyman, said the Public Works Department (PWD), would repair the damaged roads.

He said he was informed by the PWD that repair work on the damaged roads would be carried out this week.

The District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 6.49pm on Wednesday on flooding in Kampung Minansut and nine personnel, led by operations officer Norhasrita Abdul Manan, were deployed to the location with machinery.

No evacuation operations were carried out and the personnel monitored the water situation in the area.
