Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis visited the home of Dries Mertens yesterday.
Il Corriere dello Sport says De Laurentiis was spotted driving up to the home of Mertens, where he remained for an hour.
They discussed a new contract for the Belgium international, who is ready to accept a major pay-cut.
He currently earns €4.5m-a-season and there is an option to extend, which Napoli will not activate.
Instead, De Laurentiis wants Mertens to pen a new deal worth €1.2m-a-season plus bonuses, including an option to extend for the 2023-24 campaign.
