King, Queen test positive for Covid-19

PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have tested positive for Covid-19 and are undergoing self-quarantine.

In a statement, Istana Negara said the King and Queen were experiencing mild symptoms from the infection but are doing well.

The King will be quarantined until Thursday, while Tunku Azizah will complete hers on Friday.

“The royal couple are carrying out self-quarantine as per the SOPs set by the health ministry for Covid-19 cases with light symptoms or those asymptomatic,” the Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement.

“As we begin the holy month of Ramadan, the Agong has urged the Rakyat to be vigilant as the country enters a transition into the endemic phase.

“Let us pray for their speedy recovery and be blessed with lasting good health.”
