Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old Filipino who was charged with committing incest against his daughter, told the court that he wanted to meet his family, including the alleged victim when asking for bail.

The man made the request before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus during Thursday’s proceedings.

He said he wanted to see his wife and children. The judge then asked him whether he wanted to meet his family, including the alleged victim, in which he said yes.

The court then ordered him to be remanded further pending the disposal of his case.

The man, who is a passport holder, is accused of raping his 15-year-old daughter at 5.30pm on Jan 27 this year inside a bedroom of a house in Kudat.

He was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code which provides for a jail between eight and 30 years, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.

No plea was taken from the man pending the medical and chemist reports.

The court set June 7 this year for mention of the case.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman objected to bail on the grounds that the alleged victim was his daughter and that it was a serious offence.

The man was not represented.
