PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has conceded defeat to Rafizi Ramli for the PKR deputy president’s post.

Saifuddin said although the PKR election committee has not released the official results, it has published the results on its website.

The former domestic trade and consumer affairs minister said.

“My attitude is simple and clear. Respect the decisions made by party members.

“The practice of democracy determines who is elected and who is not,” he said urging members not to tear up friendships.

“God willing, PKR will continue to be strong.

My job is still focused on organising the National Congress this June.

“The Congress still needs to proceed in an orderly manner and in accordance with the rules of the Societies Act 1966,” he said, adding that about 3,000 delegates will elect 20 members of the central leadership council.

He said upon completion of this process, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as president would have a complete line of leadership.

“The next task, the new leadership prepares the party to face GE15. Well done and congratulations to all,” he said.

Rafizi secured the majority of votes in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Kedah, Johor, Perak, Pahang, Penang, and the federal territories with the exception of Perlis and Sabah.

The former Pandan MP secured a total of 153 divisions from 13 states with over 67,000 votes while Saifuddin secured 39 divisions with over 40,000 votes.
