PENAMPANG: A man was seriously injured after being struck with a machete by his fiancée’s ex-boyfriend, believed motivated by jealousy and resentment, in front of a bank by a footbridge in Putatan, on May 13.

According to Penampang District Police Chief Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim, the 24-year-old victim suffered severe head and body injuries in the attack by the 20-year-old suspect who was arrested on May 20. He said police also seized a machete believed used in the 6.30pm attack.

“Further investigation is being conducted under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing serious injuries,” he said.
