Labour Day to be moved to Wednesday, says state government

SHAH ALAM, May 2 — The state government has agreed to move the Labour Day holiday forward to Wednesday, May 4, following the announcement that the official first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls today.

Secretary to the State Government Datuk Haris Kasim said the decision is in line with the provision under Section 3 of the Holidays Act 1951 and has received the consent of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor.

“In line with this statement as well as provision Section 3 of the Holidays Act 1951 and the consent of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, the Menteri Besar has agreed that Labour Day shall be moved forward to Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

“The change in public holiday has also been extended for the use of the local authorities and state statutory bodies,” he said in a statement.

The state government also welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the moving of Labour Day to Wednesday.
