Jose Salomon Rondon has apologised after being sent off for Everton in defeat to Brentford on Sunday.

Rondon was sent off with two minutes remaining after spending just four minutes on the pitch for a reckless lunge on Brentford left-back Rico Henry.

He posted to social media: “I will always give my all on the pitch. I always want to help my club, teammates and fans. I tried to do that today and know that I wasn't up to it in one incident and am truly sorry.

"My apologies from the bottom of my heart to the whole @Everton family."

Rondon, who has scored one goal in 20 Premier League appearances this term, will now be missing for the rest of the season as he adds to Everton's ever-growing list of absentees.
