KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry has extended the national Covid-19 immunisation programme for children to May 31 from May 15, said Deputy Health Minister I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.
He said this decision is to allow parents to get their children vaccinated against Covid-19.
“This took into account how Aidilfitri celebrations and public holidays as well as the closure of vaccination centres coincide with the previous vaccination deadline,” he said.
He added that the last day to make appointments remains on May 8.
Parents who registered and obtained an appointment before or on May 8 and selected a vaccination date before or on May 31 can go ahead with their appointment, while those who selected a date after May 31 will have their appointment cancelled automatically by the app.
Parents who did not get appointment dates despite applying earlier can head to public clinics for vaccination on a “first-come, first-serve” basis.
Previously, the ministry decided to stop the children vaccination programme on May 15, citing that the government will no longer offer it as the demand is low and could result in high wastage. – The Vibes, May 12, 2022
