TAWAU: A motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving his Yamaha Y125ZR motorcycle, Proton Wira and a four-wheel drive near Km 10 Jalan Tawau-Bombalai around 6.30pm, Wednesday.

The impact threw the 21-year-old motorcyclist 12.7 metres away, killing him on the spot, according to Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin.

The 27-year-old Proton Wira driver suffered eye injuries after being struck by the car’s side mirror, while the four-wheel-drive driver was unhurt.

The victim was believed to be travelling from Ladang Table to Tawau town, while the two cars were headed from Tawau town to Merotai.

While overtaking a car, the motorcycle cut into the opposite lane, colliding with the Proton Wira’s side mirror before being hit by the four-wheel-drive vehicle behind the Proton.

The impact drove the motorcyclist off his bike and killed him instantly.
