Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is on track to achieve 30 per cent of Total Protected Areas (TPA) under Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei’s Heart of Borneo (HOB) effort.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the State Government wanted to increase it to 30 per cent of the State’s land area, up from the current 26 per cent, or 1.9 million hectares, currently designated as TPA under the HOB project.
In Borneo, he said 75 per cent of the 1.9 million hectares of TPA were within Malaysia’s boundary.
