Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits his players will need time to overcome their Champions League exit.

The Citizens were bundled out of the competition by the 13 times champions on Wednesday night in Madrid.

Despite being 4-3 up from the first leg, and 1-0 up on the night, City conceded two goals in stoppage time to take the game to extra time.

Real added a third in extra time through Karim Benzema, and saw out the game.

"They are sad," said Guardiola post-game.

"They were close to reaching the final of the Champions League.

"We need time to process that and come back with our people at home for the last four games [in the Premier League]."
