Scams show no signs of quitting in Malaysia. There will always be new tactics invented for these scammers to deceive their victims. Recently, the nation was shocked by the news that a scammer deceived a husband and wife through a house cleaning service that caused the couple to lose their life savings of tens of thousands of ringgit.

Often, these scammers will masquerade as highly respected authorities. For example, the police, the Inland Revenue Board, and customs. However, it seems that these scammers have become more daring in their modus operandi. This is because one of these scammers has dared to disguise himself as one of the most highly respected royalty members, none other than the ‘Tuanku Permaisuri Agong’ herself!

Datuk Rizalman Ibrahim, the country’s famous fashion designer, has always made it public about his good relationship with Permaisuri Agong. He recently disclosed on his Instagram page that his Group Chief Executive Officer, Faizul Surani, was almost duped by a con artist.

What’s more concerning, he claimed, is that the scammer pretended to be ‘Tuanku Permaisuri Agong’ and attempted to dupe the victim using the Telegram app. The scammer managed to get into Telegram’s account and identify himself as Tuanku Permaisuri Agong, according to a snapshot of the chat given by Rizalman.

‘Tuanku Permaisuri Agong’ had instructed Faizul to transfer RM3,000 to a man named Khairul Ikhwan during the chat. The scammer, however, was unable to deceive Faizul when the latter obtained confirmation from Tuanku Permaisuri Agong herself.

Faizul then proceeds to warn the public to be extra careful of scammers as they are no longer afraid to disguise themselves as somebody important to dupe victims out of their money. According to Faizul, he was relieved that he managed to get a confirmation directly with Tuanku Permaisuri Agung before making any transaction.
