Jonny Evans is ready to commit to staying at Leicester City beyond the expiry of his contract.
The 35-year-old has a deal that runs out at the end of next season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers believes that Evans can go on into his late 30s, comparing him to Chelsea veteran Thiago Silva, who is 37.
Evans recently said about his situation, per Leicestershire Live: "I've been really happy here. There's nothing about this place that wouldn't make you want to stay here and play football."
He added: "It's great. Leicester obviously won the league in 2016 and their name was elevated around the world on a much bigger scale.
"Since then over these last couple of years we've been able to add to that and we're constantly boosting the club's profile. The training ground and the type of players that we've got at the club now is fantastic, it's a great club to be part of.
"I think one thing I have realised is how quickly things can change and sometimes one injury at a certain time of your career can change all that. Sometimes, a little injury can put an end to your career.
"It's the psychological side to it more than anything. I've had two injuries now that have kept me out for three or four months at a time.
"I found it difficult mentally coming back from those and to try to get your fitness back up and get to a level where you're competing. I've been fortunate that the manager here has given me time to do that and accelerated me in a way that's allowed me to get back into the team quickly."
